Designing Care within Systems of Power
A presentation on the invisible work of collective leadership — examining the tension between assigned authority and intentional decentralisation, and how care can be embedded structurally into project leading, facilitation, and design within the Situated Evaluation Framework (SEF).
Process
- Team mapping — Ran team-mapping sessions with the SEF Design Team (2024–25 and 2025–26) to surface strengths, experience, and areas for development.
- Naming the tension — Examined the pull between assigned authority as Project Leader and an intentional effort to decentralise and support collective leadership.
- Structural care — Identified how care was embedded into project leading, trauma-informed facilitation, and design choices that reduced participants' stress and confusion.
Outcome
Argued that impact isn't always visible — sometimes it's the infrastructure that lets collective work happen; directly informed the Collective Leadership Framework.
Situated Evaluation Framework
A two-year project to design, test, and embed a scalable evaluation framework for student partnerships, focused on improving social justice in higher education — developed with student researchers, alumni, and programme staff across two cohorts.
Process
- Theory of change — Mapped the Changemakers programme's intended impact using systems thinking and theory of change methodologies.
- Prototype & test — Co-designed and iteratively tested the framework with the 2024/25 cohort, refining tools and templates based on what worked.
- Toolkit production — Co-produced a publicly accessible toolkit with guidelines, templates, and tutorials for future use.
- Embed & hand over — Adapted and co-ran the SEF with the 2025/26 cohort; co-authored analysis and published findings.
Outcome
Framework now in active use across two Changemaker cohorts. Blog co-authored with AdvanceHE; chapter co-authored for Springer Nature (forthcoming).

Embodying Care in Pedagogy
A body-mapping workshop co-designed with Saranya Satheesh for the University of the Arts London (UAL) academic staff and international guests at the 2025 UAL Education Conference, exploring how care can be embedded into everyday pedagogical practice.
Process
- Design — Developed workshop concept and structure together with Saranya Satheesh, grounding it in both our design for justice practices and inspired by the Situated Evaluation Framework for the LCC Changemakers.
- Facilitation — Ran the session for UAL academic staff and international guests, using participatory methods to open dialogue around care in teaching.
- Reflection & documentation — Captured participant responses and shared reflections as part of ongoing work in compassionate pedagogy.
Outcome
Delivered across two workshop sessions to 15 academic staff and international guests; contributed to UAL's ongoing dialogue around compassionate assessment.

Changemaking Led by Students Archive
A publicly accessible prototype of an archive created in response to local organisations' requests, documenting the social impact of student-led changemaking at LCC and connecting it to community needs.
Process
- Stakeholder mapping — Engaged with local organisations including Latin Elephant and SE1 Stories to understand what they needed from the university.
- Archive design — Contributed to the design of the archive structure, ensuring it was accessible and usable by external partners.
- Community outreach — Built and maintained relationships with local organisations to actively promote the archive in support of their work.
Outcome
Now used across LCC Changemakers to inspire other students' projects, and cited in reports to demonstrate the impact and possibilities of Changemaker work.

Wall Project
A curriculum innovation project at LCC giving students space to make their work publicly visible — co-designed with programme staff, student Changemakers, and the Course Leader of Global Media Businesses.
Process
- Focus groups — Designed and ran focus groups with academic staff and student partners to inform the design of the project.
- Brief co-design — Collaborated with the Programme Director and Course Leader to embed the project into the unit's assignment brief.
- Launch & curation — Designed and hosted the launch event; coordinated the curation of student work for public display.
- Evaluation & handover — Ran an evaluation of the project's impact on students; coordinated handover to a new project leader in 2026.

Secured Teaching and Learning Innovation funds; presented at Storytelling, Co-Creation & Student Narratives (Feb 2026).

EDI Evaluation for Making Connections
A community EDI evaluation project in Peckham, London, exploring the past, present, and future of a local community initiative through participatory research and creative methods.
Process
- Community interviews — Co-designed and ran interviews with local community members, listening for patterns and lived experience.
- Workshops — Co-facilitated community workshops to deepen findings and invite collective reflection on the project's impact.
- Street photography — Conducted a research photography session with the design team to document the neighbourhood's visual culture.
- Public exhibition — Co-designed and ran an exhibition sharing research findings with the community and including a live workshop.
Outcome
Evaluated two seasons of Making Connections through 53 audience responses and two community archive workshops (17 participants total) at the Old Waiting Room, Peckham Rye Station; delivered three recommendations — more accessible community-centred events, youth engagement, and diversifying event locations — to the organising team.

Postcards to the Community
A participatory project co-designing and co-facilitating the creation of postcards with and for a local community, fostering connections and collective authorship across different community voices.
Process
- Coordination — Aligned the project purpose with the community-support organisation.
- Community workshops — Co-facilitated workshops inviting community members to contribute their stories, images, and words.
- Report — Produced a comprehensive project report including the analysis of the community's creative outputs.
Outcome
Delivered as part of Latin Elephant's 10th-anniversary celebration; the postcards and reflections collected now feed into Latin Elephant's ongoing "My Elephant Story" archive.

marghera nel mezzo
a grassroots social impact project in marghera, italy, researching and documenting the living culture of a neighbourhood through the eyes of its residents, expats, artists, and local organisations.
process
- research walks — designed and led group walks through the neighbourhood as a method of collective observation and conversation.
- artist interviews — conducted in-depth interviews with local artists to understand how they relate to the area and its history.
- community collaboration — collaborated with residents, expats, community experts, and local organisations to build a plural picture of the place.
- digital gallery — co-designed a publicly accessible grassroots digital gallery to share findings and give voice to the community.

128 residents surveyed and three community experts interviewed, alongside two public research walks; findings shaped a digital archive of marghera's stories, now live, with qr-coded totems currently being produced for distribution to local collaborators and shops.

exhibition design for the graduate show of ma design for social innovation and sustainable futures at lcc — a collaborative process spanning space planning, artist coordination, and real-time problem-solving across multiple departments.

- space mapping — contributed to the creation of a 3d map of the exhibition location, planning how artwork and visitors would move through the space.
- concept co-curation — participated in focus groups to co-curate the exhibition concept, ensuring coherence across very different student projects.

- installation & disassembly — oversaw and implemented last-minute fixes on install day; supported the full disassembly of the exhibition.

a social impact design project exploring wellbeing along the line art walk in london, working with a team of social impact designers to research, document, and recommend improvements for the client.
process
- interview design — co-designed the interview structure and facilitated conversations with visitors and local community members.
- fieldwork & filmmaking — conducted street photography and filmmaking sessions along the walk to document lived experience.
- mid-way presentation — co-presented interim findings to the client, inviting feedback and alignment before the final phase.

a self-published illustrated collection documenting the everyday life of a foreign nanny — a personal project about care, labour, and the invisible work of looking after other people's children.

- research & illustration — conducted primary research and created real-life-inspired illustrations drawn from personal experience.
- community building — created and managed the claire cares instagram account, building and growing an online community around the project.
- kickstarter campaign — designed and ran a crowdfunding campaign securing £3,322 from 96 backers, including explanation videos and a full promotion strategy.
- book production & dispatch — designed the book, bookmarks, and thank-you cards; managed printing, packing, and dispatch to backers worldwide.
